Legal status: Namulenga Development Foundation is registered in the Republic of Malawi on 6th August, 2024 under the Trustees Incorporation Rules (CAP.5:03) Certificate of Incorporation TRN- 5YS8VQ. The organization is also registered with CONGOMA and its Registration number is C1901/2024. It is also registered with Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Authority (NGORA) and its Registration number is NGO / L/ 24/ 093.
Breaking the vicious circle of poverty among poor Malawians
Namulenga Development Foundation Vision Statement is to achieve a socio-economically empowered community by the year 2030 in line with that of UN Sustainable Development Goals
Namulenga Development Foundation’s mission is to create awareness and empower disadvantaged youth, men and women at all levels to undertake development which is integral, gender and environmentally sensitive, sustainable and which promotes Justice, Human Dignity, and Self Reliance with the active participation of the people themselves so that they take up the responsibility of their own destiny.
Strategic Objectives
- To contribute towards increased food, livelihoods, income security and economic empowerment for vulnerable and disadvantaged households by 2030.
- To mainstream and integrate disaster risk reduction and management, environment, gender, HIV & AIDS, literacy, albinism, disability, human rights, youth participation, and early childhood development in all the programs.
- To increase and expand Namulenga Development Foundation financial base.
- To empower the youths and communities to be able to hold service providers to account for their services and improve on service delivery
- To increase access to Sexual Reproductive Health services, STIs prevention and treatment among the youth and other vulnerable communities through awareness and interface meetings with service providers
- To Support and Promote free and quality education services for all children in Malawi.
- To promote human dignity by helping those affected by disasters and other vulnerable groups to have access to basic needs of life such as quality education, shelter, Water and food.
- To create and strengthen community platforms where the school children and youth can discuss education, entrepreneurial, economic, cultural, climate change, environment and other social issues affecting their lives and come up with community- based solutions and actions
- To improve access to portable & safe water and sanitation by vulnerable communities by 2030.3.
Achievements
- We supported 110 students from community day secondary schools in Mulanje District with school fees.
- We supported 550 primary school learners with school uniforms
- We connected piped water to two villages helping 10,000 people with access to safe and clean water
- We constructed a pit latrine for boys at Kaphiri Primary School in Mulanje District helping
- We supported 100 girl learners with sanitary pads
